Offbeat Images

Let the ordinary moments take your breath away.

Meet the Staff

Offbeat Images is family-owned and operated. It has two photographers, each with a distinct style.

Jim Thompson

It all started with a Pentax K-1000 in Midland, Texas. Jim was 16 and full of imagination. He began honing his skills as the photo editor of the Midland Senior High School yearbook and newspaper. His black and white picture of a windmill won a first place award for best landscape/scenery.

During his tenure in the U.S. Army he traveled the world, receiving a global education in aesthetics. Jim has worked as a photography stringer for The Madison Press in London, Ohio. Jim has lived in several states, including Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Illinois. He's resided in Springfield since 2004.

He has a 13-year-old son and a passion for animals. He's worked as a grocery bagger, roofer, dry wall hanger and retail store manager.

Sarah Thompson

Sarah has lived in the Springfield area most of her life. She graduated from Northwestern High School, attended Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and finished at Urbana University. She has a B.A. in journalism and communications.

She's worked as a journalist since November 2005. Her specialty is writing and page design, but she's not bad behind a camera. She has worked for the Clark County Humane Society, National Church Residences and the Muncie Center for the Arts. Sarah also has served as a youth minister, mission trip leader, latchkey aide and Chuck E. Cheese birthday hostess (during high school).
